My Favorite Books of 2019

Now that the end of the year is upon us, the time for reflection is now. I have read 23 books, not quite my Goodreads challenge goal of 30, but pretty close. I love making lists and one of my favorite lists is the top 6 books of the year. So here it goes:

Top 6 Books (In chronological order, but also 6 because I like even numbers):

Becoming by Michelle Obama

It’s Michelle Obama! What else do I need to say? This was such a quick read. I got it for Christmas last year and completely ate it up.

Lost Boy by Christina Henry

Now this novel was a surprise for me. Dan actually read this book first and told me that I had to read it. This is a twist on the traditional Peter Pan story, but I must say, if you love Peter Pan, this book is not for you.

Miracle Creek by Angie Kim

This book was on the book club list between my sisters and I. I actually fought for a different book but then ended up really hating it so we read this one next and were all completely engrossed. It’s a captivating and twisty novel about tragic events.

Born A Crime by Trevor Noah

I am not much of a person to read autobiographies but I love The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and I absolutely had to pick up his book. I literally laughed out loud and also sobbed, but it made me love and respect him more than I did before.

Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

I am a big fan of Stephen King and this book was no exception. This novel is a sequel to The Shining and is beautifully written.

Wool by Hugh Howey

Post-apocalyptic science fiction novel. It is the first of a series and actually took me a while to get into, but the ending was pretty exciting!

Happy New Year! And we'll see what they next year will bring!
